Pressing Pause
I'll be (back in your inboxes) in a minute, Mr. Peabody!
Hello everyone! First, I don’t think I ever officially thanked you all for helping me reach 100 subscribers in less than a year of launching! That’s incredible, and I’m so so grateful.
You may have noticed that I haven’t posted an edition of LHAL in a while. It’s mostly because I’ve been putting so much effort into my video content on TikTok/Instagram that I haven’t really had time to sit down and write. And the last thing I’d want to do is force myself to write with zero inspiration, because that helps nobody.
More than that, while I do love writing Let’s Have Another Look, in some ways I feel as though I painted myself into a corner with it. In my view, at times the format feels limiting. Generally, I want to be able to expand my scope with writing about this era of Hollywood, and try branching out to other avenues as well (like TV/radio).
I never really had an issue with a new edition biweekly, though it’s admittedly become more difficult as time’s gone on to churn out twice of the same the content (one for free and one for paid subscribers). There were times I’m sure you noticed where I only posted a paid edition that particular week. Moving forward, I would rather incorporate different types of film content to pair alongside LHAL, rather than eliminate it completely.
What I realize I now need in the early stages of my newsletter is a bit of a reset. And so, I’ll be taking a break until the new year to figure out how best to improve/revamp my Substack so that I’m not overextending myself, shortchanging my subscribers, and most importantly, that it doesn’t begin to feel like a chore.
I started this publication as sort of a written extension to my TikToks; a place to further elaborate on thoughts about my favorite era of Hollywood. I deeply appreciate the time, effort, and energy you all as my readers have put into supporting me on each and every platform I have, so it’s my hope that it’ll continue even while my written works take a brief pause.
In the meantime, I’ve been ramping up my TikTok content—even though the algorithm hasn’t always cooperated in showing it to you, in addition to Romcom Club currently ongoing, I’m now doing a 25 Days of Holiday Romcoms series that I hope you’ll check out and/or keep up with if you aren’t already!
For those wondering, I’ll be pausing paid subscriptions, so you’re not unnecessarily charged. Those will resume Jan. 5th.
I tend to ramble in this format, so I’ll end it here. Again, thank you all so much for your support thus far, especially in reaching over 100 subscribers. I’ll be back in your inboxes before you know it.
See you in 2026!
